On January 29, 2025, Denise Vidot, Ph.D., Director of the CTSI’s Community and Stakeholder Engagement (CASE) program and its Senior Program Manager Angelica Agati provided a comprehensive overview of the considerations, competencies, and framework to help early career faculty better understand how their research can support the community at the latest K-faculty Leading University Excellence in Science (KLUES) event.
Dr. Vidot and Angelica emphasized how the CASE program of the Miami CTSI bridges researchers and local communities, building sustainable partnerships to ensure that research initiatives meet the needs of the community.
The program’s consultative services for researchers support community engaged research by providing investigators with insightful guidance on how they can foster strong, meaningful connections with the community.
A key takeaway from this interactive session was that the CASE framework is modelled after evidence-based work done by the National Academy of Medicine and Community Engagement.
New and regular KLUES members attended the event along with CTSI K12 MPIs, Alessia Fornoni, M.D., Ph.D., and Tatjana Rundek, M.D., Ph.D., and CTSI Workforce Development leaders.
The event not only covered common sense approaches to community engagement, but it also provided an opportunity to network, share insights, and explore overlapping research interests.
The next KLUES event will be on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the CTSI Training Center.
