CTSI Research Mentoring Workshop

Spring 2023 Training Dates
January 20, February 10 & March 10

The Miami CTSI Research Mentoring Training is a series of workshops for early stage faculty and their mentors to strengthen their mentoring skills and build successful relationships.

Workshops are interactive and include presentations, exercises and discussions with mentoring teams.

The curriculum uses evidence-based strategies and was developed by the University Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute. It is modeled after their CO-Mentor Training Program, led by Gregory Austin, M.D., a nationally recognized leader in research mentoring training.

Format

  • Training will take place over 3 non-consecutive days (each one is a full day.) View a sample schedule
  • It will be conducted in person at the CTSI Training Center located at the Don Soffer Clinical Research Center (prev. CRB), suite 710.
  • There will not be a remote option unless otherwise mandated by University policy.

Who Should Attend?

  • Early-stage faculty and their mentor(s) across all UM schools are invited to attend.
  • Mentors can be a primary mentor or any member of the mentoring team.
  • Non-MSOM investigators and multi-disciplinary mentor/mentee pairs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Due to the attendance limitation, participants will be selected based on (1) their commitment and the commitment of their mentor to attend the full training, and (2) the order the registration was completed (first come, first served). The time commitment over the 3 days is expected to be 8 hours for the mentors, and 16 hours for the mentees.

Certification

Certificates will be offered upon completion of the training. To obtain the certificate, mentees must complete the training.
