On March 21, 2025, the University of Miami School of Communication hosted its annual Research Day, a forum dedicated to showcasing innovative research and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
Among the distinguished presenters was Ching-Hua Chuan, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the Department of Interactive Media, whose work is supported by a pilot award from the University of Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI).
Dr. Chuan presented her research titled “Exploring Large Language Models for Chatbots as Eligibility Assistants for Clinical Trials,” a project funded by the Miami CTSI. Her work focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to develop conversational agents that can assist patients and their families in navigating clinical trial eligibility criteria. This approach aims to enhance patient engagement and streamline the process of identifying suitable clinical trials.
The School of Communication’s Research Day serves as a platform for faculty and graduate students to share insights across communication disciplines. Dr. Chuan’s presentation exemplified the event’s commitment to fostering academic collaboration.
