The CTSI K12 program hosted its kick-off event on December 6 for a new program aimed at supporting career development and mentorship to enhance academic success.

Early career faculty came together for the K-faculty Leading University Excellence in Science (KLUES) program’s first in-person session, participating in a dynamic discussion on the program’s objectives, upcoming activities and the role of mentoring and CTSI resources in the pursuit of career advancement.

The goals of KLUES are to foster connections, share insights, and explore mentoring opportunities at the University to support the growth and development of early-career scholars.

By participating in KLUES, members can thrive to become scholars who are, “process innovators, system thinkers, boundary crossers, team science players and rigorous researchers,” said CTSI K12 MPI, Alessia Fornoni, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Fornoni shared the ways the program will support mentorship, guide research trajectories, and nurture the next generation of academic leaders.

Through dialogue and collaboration, KLUES aims to create a platform where experienced mentors and mentees can exchange ideas, build meaningful relationships, and strengthen the university’s commitment to professional growth and excellence in translational science.

KLUES will meet bi-monthly with the next event on January 29, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. CTSI Community and Stakeholder Engagement Director Denise Vidot, Ph.D., will lead the session.
