Internationally renowned physician-scientist and CTSI program director and research mentoring leader Alessia Fornoni, M.D., Ph.D., has been elected to the prestigious Association of American Physicians (AAP). She will be the first nephrologist from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine to be inducted into the association, which includes six other UM faculty members.
A new study published in the Journal of Theoretical Biology presents a simple way to correct COVID-19 testing bias. J. Díaz-Pachón, research assistant professor — both with the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine — have developed a bias correction methodology to use on already collected information that reduces estimation errors dramatically.

But thanks to the University of Miami’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), there is now a website offering virtual, one-stop-shopping for all health research studies conducted at the University of Miami. The new website, UMiamiHealthResearch.org, was launched last fall and currently features more than 120 health research studies in need of participants.
