CTSI Supported Rapid Test for COVID-19 Receives Rapid Patent Approval

Sylvia Daunert, Ph.D., Pharm.D., M.S., and her research team, which includes Miller School of Medicine faculty members Sapna Deo, Ph.D., M.S., and Jean-Marc Zingg, Ph.D., are one step closer to finalizing their point-of-care rapid test for COVID-19 after receiving a notice of patent allowance earlier this month.

The Miami CTSI, the Miller School of Medicine Office of the Executive Dean for Research and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research have partnered with Hanover Research, a grant development firm, to offer research support services that aim to increase the quality of grant proposals and funding success rates.

Longtime CTSI Program Manager to Head Calif. Community Based Organization

Brendaly Rodríguez, M.A., C.P.H., Manager of the CTSI Community and Stakeholder Engagement Program, has accepted an exciting new position to be Director of the Chula Vista Community Collaborative in San Diego, California. She will be recgonized by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) during its Advisory Panel on Patient Engagement Meeting June 4-5. The virtual meeting is open to the public.

Join us April 28 at 4 p.m., for a virtual presentation and Q&A with Dr. Joshua Hare, Dr. Camillo Ricordi and Dr. Shari Messinger Cayetano. Both Dr. Hare and Dr. Ricordi are working on national and international efforts to test the efficacy of using umbilical cord and bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells to treat SARS-CoV-2 syndromes.
