Women in Academic Medicine Honors Three CTSI Program Directors
On December 4, the Women in Academic Medicine (WIAM) group held its awards ceremony to recognize Miller School faculty members for their achievements and outstanding leadership. The CTSI would like to congratulate three of its program directors who were honored.
- Alessia Fornoni, M.D., Ph.D., who received the WIAM Excellence in Leadership Award. This award recognizes women faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine who exhibit exceptional leadership qualities and exemplify commitment to service, community engagement, altruism and dedication to empowering and advancing others.
- Erin Kobetz, Ph.D., M.P.H., who received the WIAM Trailblazer Award. This award recognizes women faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine who, through their perseverance and dedication, have forged paths through previously unexplored territory to become pioneers in their field of medicine and medical research.
- Gwendolyn Scott, M.D., who received the WIAM Career Achievement Award. This award recognizes current women faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine who have made extraordinary contributions to advancements in their fields (clinical, research and/or education) over their career, who have shown a sustained history of distinguished service to UMMSM, and who are consistently regarded as exceptional mentors, leaders, and advocates.
Established in 2008, WIAM seeks to cultivate a larger leadership base for Miller School women faculty and works to ensure that the School promotes an environment that values every member of the Miller School community, while providing the resources necessary to fulfill a commitment to women faculty.
