The Miami CTSI hosted its annual Foundations and Tools of Clinical and Translational Research Workshop on December 18 and 19 to give early stage faculty, fellows, post docs and students an extensive overview of the translational research being conducted by some of the University’s most successful investigators.

Lina Shehadeh, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology and an investigator in the Miller School’s Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute (ISCI) was recently awarded a four-year, $2 million RO1 grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to study the role of Osteopontin in mitochondrial function in Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF) in cardiorenal syndrome.

Brendaly Rodriguez, manager for the Miami CTSI Community Engagement & Cultural Diversity Program and Co-President of the Florida Community Health Worker Coalition has been appointed by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) as a member of its Advisory Panel on Patient Engagement.
