Community Health Workers Learn Prevention, Control of Mosquito-Borne Diseases

South Florida community health workers, also known as promotores de salud in Spanish speaking communities, learned basic skills in the prevention and control of the mosquito-borne diseases including Zika virus at workshops conducted at the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County on March 3 and 4.

The Miller School of Medicine, the Division of Infectious Diseases, the Department of Public Health Sciences and UHealth - the University of Miami Health System will present Zika Forum: State of the Science, Public Health Safety and Ethics, on Wednesday, March 23, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Donna E. Shalala Student Center, 1330 Miller Drive, on the University of Miami Coral Gables campus.
