Advancing culturalized health sciences, the CTSI helps investigators conduct high quality, safe, and culturally appropriate clinical and translational research studies. CTSI programs include the following:
Research Design and Biostatistics
Advises, educates, and trains researchers in the design and analysis of clinical translational research studies and develops new methods for data analysis.
Regulatory Knowledge and Support
Provides researcher-focused resources, consultation, training, and study participant advocacy services to assure participant safety and regulatory excellence in clinical and translational research.
¡Alianza! Miami Center for Research Participation and Partnership (MCRP2)
Manages a network of harmonized facilities, best practices, and standard operating procedures for patient-oriented research, offers training and career ladders for research professionals.
Community Engagement and Cultural Diversity
Fosters long-term participatory research collaboration with the community, assists investigators in conducting community-engaged research, offers advice and training in community based participatory, minority health, and health disparities research.
Works to advance and integrate ethics into all levels of clinical and translational research through programs such as the Research Ethics Consultation Service and educational efforts by faculty affiliates of the UM Ethics Programs and the CITI Program.
Research Education, Training and Career Development
Provides University-wide degree programs, training, mentorship, and career development in clinical and translational research, team science, and culturally-appropriate research methods.
Pilots and Collaborative Translational and Clinical Studies
Harmonizes University internal grant procedures, manages pool of specialized ad hoc reviewers, and automates web-based RFA reviews, awards, and project tracking and evaluation, and offers pilot, collaborative, start-up, and service awards for research aligned with the CTSI mission.
Provides the communication infrastructure and technology for research collaboration; manages resources, expertise, e-platforms, and tools for IRB- and HIPAA-compliant research data capture, integration with electronic health record information, computational modeling and analysis, storage, back-up, recovery, and sharing.
Builds and maintains operational, IT, practice standards, and oversight infrastructure for collecting, processing, controlling quality, and releasing/using biospecimens for research.
Novel Clinical and Translational Methods, Technologies, and Resources
Advances novel technologies and translational science, links studies with commercial potential to technology transfer resources, manages and disseminates information about research cores/resources.
